US OPEN – Oakmont County Club

The seasons second Major of the year is finally here and all talk is about how difficult Oakmont will play due to lighting fast greens and extra thick rough.  Taken this into consideration players are predicting one of the highest final scores in US Open history and that’s why we’ll be bringing you two banker and value tips this week.

So where to start, like most Majors the cream normally rises to the top and with putting being one of the most important and talked about factors to consider this week the first name that jumps out is defending Champion Jordan Spieth (10/1 at PaddyPower).  Everyone knows he’s one of the best clutch putters on tour and although he hasn’t been driving the ball well lately I think he’ll do enough to hang around to the end and could roll in some important putts on Sundays back nine.

Jason Day (7/1 at PaddyPower) is on another level at the moment and I every time the World Number 1 tee’s it up he looks like winning.  His previous US Open appearances include two second place finishes in 2011 & 2013 and he’s the only one of the Worlds Top 3 Players not to have a US Open and I believe that little extra motivation could make the difference.

Further down the field and looking for some value, could this finally be the one for Sergio Garcia (50/1 at Ladbrokes)  He couldn’t ask for a better tune-up than a win in his previous start (AT&T Byron Nelson).  He currently sits 23rd in total driving distance and first in greens in regulation on tour.

Past Fed Ex Cup Champion (2014) Billy Horschel (80/1 at Ladbrokes) has finished in the top 25 in the past three US Opens including a tied 4th finish in 2013 and you’d be hard-pressed to find another player in the field who’ll relish the challenge more.  At big odds I think he may be worth a small stake each way bet for some additional interest.

BANKER TIP: Jason Day to win (7/1 at PaddyPower)

BANKER TIP: Jordan Spieth to win (10/1 at PaddyPower)

VALUE TIP: Sergio Garcia E/W 6 places (50/1 at Ladbrokes)

VALUE TIP (Small Stakes Only): Billy Horschel E/W 6 places (80/1 at Ladbrokes)
